Most larger apartment complexes run credit checks when a new prospective tenants apply for an apartment. Most property management can still rent you an apartment or home even if you have bad credit and will evaluate your rental application just like a mortgage lender would. If you have very low credit scores and bad credit, a landlord may request that you put a larger deposit than one month rent. Private mom and pop landlords may just rent the apartment or home to you without running a credit check. If your credit is extremely poor, try renting your apartment or home from a private landlord instead of a property management company.
