Conventional loan after short sale
A home buyer can qualify for a conventional loan after short sale in 4 years from the date of the short sale with 5% down payment. This short sale waiting period to qualify for a conventional loan has just been implemented a month ago on August 16th, 2014. Prior to the new Fannie Mae Guidelines on waiting period after a short sale to qualify for a conventional loan was a two year waiting period after short sale, however, you needed 20% down payment. The two year waiting period after short sale with 20% down is no longer in effect.
