Is achieving a 700 PLUS FICO credit score possible one year after a bankruptcy discharge? Absolutely. I have represented many mortgage loan borrowers with credit scores of 700 and higher one year after a bankruptcy discharge. It requires a lot of work to have credit scores of 700 FICO plus one year after a bankruptcy discharge but it is definitely possible.

Your credit scores will plummet by 200 or more points once you file bankruptcy. However, that credit score drop is a temporary drop and with time, your credit scores will gradually increase. Your bankruptcy will have less and less impact on your credit scores as the bankruptcy ages. To expedite boosting your credit scores, you need to start re-establishing your credit by adding positive credit right after your bankruptcy discharge. The best and fastest way to re-establish your credit is by getting three to five secured credit cards. Get any forms of credit and never be late on a single payment. Pay Day Loans, auto loans, and other credit that will report you to the three major credit bureaus. Again never be late on any monthly payment.
